Camorra: Brawl at Maximall between the Giontas and the Fourth System: 9 precautionary measures

Torre del Greco – A settling of scores in the crowded corridors of the shopping center was enough to reignite the fuse of the Vesuvian powder keg. An episode that, at first, might have seemed like the madness of a juvenile gang or a brawl between thugs, but the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate pinned it down to its true criminality: the first act in a bloody feud for control of the territory.

At the center of the magnifying glass is the massive brawl that broke out in 2025 inside the Maximall Pompeii (in the Torre Annunziata area). That day, amidst the crowds of customers and shop windows, a showdown erupted between loyalists of the historic Gionta clan and the new recruits of the IV Sistema, the emerging group rooted in the Penniniello neighborhood. A full-blown affront that could not go unanswered.

The spiral of retaliation and the shadow of the mafia method

According to investigators from the Naples Flying Squad and the Torre Annunziata police station, the brawl at the shopping center was merely the trigger. That episode was followed by weeks of high tension, marked by punitive raids, gunshots, robberies, and domestic violence, all aimed at marking territory and reaffirming who rules the neighborhoods.

The investigations revealed a grim picture, in which the intimidating power of the association transformed the streets into a veritable war front. The investigating judge of the Court of Naples, fully accepting the DDA's accusations, signed a precautionary custody order for a total of nine people: seven were sent directly to prison, while the remaining two were placed under house arrest.

An escalation of lead: the crimes contested

The dawn raid by law enforcement uncovered a raft of very serious charges. The suspects are accused of various crimes, from aggravated brawl to robbery, including domestic violence and public intimidation with the use of weapons. They also face charges related to the illegal possession and carrying of firearms.

Valentino Gionta Junior Wanted

Valentino Gionta, scion of the Gionta clan, is also among those targeted by precautionary measures issued by Naples investigating judge Marco Discepolo, at the request of the Anti-Mafia Directorate. Valentino Gionta Jr. is currently a wanted man. Prison arrest has been issued for Jonathan Falanga, 23; Salvatore Iovene, 23; Salvatore Malvone, 38; Vincenzo Di Salvatore, 35; Vincenzo Della Ragione, 33; Luigi Sperandeo, 34; and Valentino Gionta, 35. Ernesto Gionta, 22 (also a member of the Gionta crime family) and Marco Scognamiglio, 25, have been placed under house arrest.

All these crimes, throughout the entire investigation conducted in 2025, were aggravated by Article 416-bis.1, that is, by having acted under mafia conditions and with the aim of facilitating their respective criminal organizations. With this raid, investigators are attempting to decapitate the chain of command and nip in the bud an armed escalation that threatened to once again bloody the streets of Torre Annunziata.
