Torre del Greco: Pregnant partner slapped and punched; 3-year-old son witnesses the violence; arrested

Torre del Greco – A pregnant woman, her face bloody and swollen, lying in the street with her three-year-old son at her side. This was the scene encountered by Carabinieri officers from the Torre del Greco Carabinieri Mobile Unit, who responded overnight to Via Circumvallazione following a report of an assault.

Officers arrived at number 139, where they found the 23-year-old woman still in shock, clutching the child's hand. The woman, in tears, told the Carabinieri what had happened shortly before inside the family home.

According to the police's reconstruction, her partner, a 27-year-old, allegedly repeatedly attacked her, slapping and punching her. The violence also included a particularly serious threat: he threatened to strangle her.

The woman, taking advantage of a favorable moment, managed to escape from the house together with her son and reach the street, where she asked for help.

The 27-year-old was found a few steps from his home

The Carabinieri immediately began searching for the 27-year-old. The man was located a few minutes later, a short distance from the couple's home, and arrested by officers.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old was rescued and transferred to Maresca Hospital in Torre del Greco. The woman, who is four months pregnant, underwent medical checks. Doctors diagnosed her with multiple bruises and trauma from the beatings, with a prognosis of 15 days.

After being discharged, the woman and her three-year-old son were taken to a protected facility.

Arrest for domestic abuse

Following the investigation, the 27-year-old was arrested on charges of domestic violence and transferred to prison, where he was held at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

This incident once again highlights domestic violence, in a context in which the alleged assault occurred in the presence of a child and while the victim was four months pregnant.
