The Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSM) is announcing a public competition for two positions as technical officers with a statistical profile, within its staff in Rome.
The announcement, published in the Official Journal, is a public competition based on qualifications and examinations. Two positions are available. One of the two positions is reserved for staff currently employed by the CSM in Area II, provided they meet the required requirements. The contract is for employment within the CSM's organic role, with a probationary appointment, and the salary is as set forth in Article 39 of the CSM Staff Regulations for the equivalent economic-professional position; the exact salary is not specified in the announcement.
The position covered by the competition is that of a technical officer with a statistical profile. In practice, this position collects, organizes, monitors, and analyzes data to support institutional decisions. Typical activities include the preparation of indicators, reports, and databases, as well as sample analyses, statistical models, and monitoring tools. The required skills range from descriptive and inferential statistics to sampling, data management and quality, use of statistical software, databases, and technical drafting skills. In the context of the CSM, the analysis may focus on indicators related to judicial organization, but it remains a general explanation of the position and does not replace the specific requirements of the announcement.
The announcement provides further details on the accepted qualifications, the conditions of equivalence and the specific conditions related to the organization's "Area III, economic level 1".
Available positions: 2, one of which is reserved for staff currently employed at the CSM in Area II. Place of work: Rome, please provide the mailing address (Piazza dell'Indipendenza 6, 00185 Rome) for any paper communications. The position is a contract within the CSM's organic role, with the qualification of technical officer, statistical profile, Area III, economic level 1, with a probationary period of 4 months; if successful, the probationary period will be counted as full-time service. The salary is not specified in the announcement, but is provided for in accordance with Article 39 of the CSM Staff Regulations for equivalent economic-professional positions.
The application process is structured around qualifications and exams. The overall score is divided into 9 points for qualifications, 30 points for the written exam, and 30 points for the oral exam. A pre-selection test may be required if the number of questions exceeds 250; in this case, it consists of a multiple-choice quiz on the exam subjects, lasting one hour. The top 100 applicants are admitted to the written test, with possible ties for 100th place. The pre-selection score does not count towards the final ranking.
The six-hour written exam covers descriptive and inferential statistics, sampling theory, statistical models, and multivariate analysis. Candidates with a score of at least 21/30 in the written exam will advance to the oral exam. The oral exam covers the written exam topics, with additional elements of judicial statistics, civil and criminal procedure, the judicial system, databases, and statistical software. Knowledge of English will also be assessed. The ranking of successful candidates is determined by adding the scores of qualifications and tests, taking into account any preferences and precedence; in the event of a tie, the youngest candidate prevails. The ranking remains valid for three years and may be used for additional vacancies.
Official deadline: October 22, 2026. Applications must be submitted exclusively online within 30 days of the announcement's publication in the Official Journal, by registering and completing the online form in the Competitions section of the website www.csm.it.
