Gragnano, drug-dealing brothers arrested
Gragnano - It all began during a routine patrol through the city streets. The officers' attention was drawn by the passing scooter driven by a twenty-year-old. The young man's unsteady gait and visibly nervous demeanor prompted the Carabinieri to pull up alongside him and order him to stop for a thorough check.
A personal search immediately confirmed the investigators' suspicions. In the fanny pack strapped to his waist, the twenty-year-old was hiding a veritable drug dealing kit: 18 grams of marijuana, 14 doses of hashish ready for sale, and €395 in small bills, an amount believed to be the immediate proceeds of the illicit activity conducted on the city streets.
At that point, the investigation inevitably moved to the family home. When the Carabinieri showed up at the door, the sixteen-year-old brother opened the door. The boy, understanding the situation and seeing the uniforms, reacted impulsively: he grabbed a paper bag hidden in the entryway and attempted a desperate escape on foot down the stairs.
The officers stopped him before he could leave. Inside the bag, they recovered another 18 grams of marijuana, carefully divided into six packages, as well as €30 in cash. Subsequent searches in the bedroom shared by the two brothers revealed, not far from the beds, a precision scale used to package individual doses.
Following the formal procedures, the twenty-year-old was sent to prison, where he will remain detained pending judicial confirmation. His sixteen-year-old brother was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
