Caserta, man arrested for abusing his minor daughter and sentenced to 11 years in prison.
A 56-year-old resident of Caserta was arrested by the State Police and taken to prison to serve a final sentence of 11 years, one month, and 12 days for sexual assault against his minor daughter. The crime was deemed aggravated by domestic abuse.
The arrest warrant was carried out by members of the Caserta Flying Squad, who located the man in the province and, after completing the required formalities, transferred him to the prison.
According to investigators' reconstruction, the abuse occurred between May and June 2013, when the victim was still a minor. The man allegedly exploited the father-daughter relationship and the intimacy of the home to carry out the abusive behavior.
The case had long remained shrouded in secrecy and only came to light following a dramatic episode: the girl's suicide attempt. That incident had sparked the investigation, which allowed investigators to reconstruct the events and gather evidence useful for the criminal proceedings.
The Flying Squad's investigations led to the trial and, ultimately, the 56-year-old's final conviction. In addition to the prison sentence, the court also ordered the removal of parental rights, an additional penalty related to the seriousness of the crimes and the breach of trust between father and daughter.
The man, once identified, was taken into the care of the investigators and taken to prison, where he will now have to serve the sentence imposed on him by a final judgment.
