The Major Burns Unit at Cardarelli Hospital
Capaccio-Paestum – The 44-year-old man who was seriously injured in the dramatic fire that broke out late yesterday afternoon inside a home on Via Chiorbo, in the City of Temples, has died. The man, a Romanian national and resident of Eboli, died in the last few hours at the Burns Center of the Cardarelli Hospital in Naples, where he had been urgently transferred due to severe injuries sustained over much of his body.
The alarm was raised following several calls to the emergency number, in which residents in the area reported a loud bang and flames coming from the building. The Fire Brigade and 118 paramedics responded promptly to the scene.
From the first moments, the 44-year-old's condition appeared desperate: after initially stabilizing him at the Roccadaspide hospital, doctors ordered his immediate transfer to a specialized hospital in the Campania capital, but unfortunately, this proved unsuccessful. A second person was also involved in the fire, suffering minor injuries.
The Carabinieri of the Agropoli Company are currently investigating the incident, tasked with reconstructing the exact circumstances of the incident and clarifying the origin of the fire. Initial investigations by technicians and military personnel suggest that the most likely hypothesis is a fatal domestic accident or an accidental malfunction.
