Gigi D'Alessio's masks used by Andrea Izzo
Castellammare – A little over a year later, he's back in the hands of the Carabinieri. This time, not for a car-related incident or a chase, but for alleged drug dealing. The suspect is a 27-year-old from Gragnano, arrested by officers from the local station after being caught selling a dose of drugs to a customer.
This new episode also brings to light a previous arrest, which took place in September of last year, when the young man had attracted the attention of the Carabinieri for a decidedly unusual detail found during the search.
The latest incident occurred in Gragnano. Carabinieri officers from the local station observed the 27-year-old while, according to the officers' reconstruction, he was handing over a dose of drugs to another person.
At that point, the police intervened. The young man attempted to quickly flee on foot along Via Vittorio Veneto, attempting to avoid the checkpoint. The Carabinieri chased him and managed to subdue him, though not without difficulty.
During the operation, however, the situation escalated. Before being finally immobilized, the 27-year-old allegedly punched one of the officers several times.
The subsequent search allowed the Carabinieri to find six doses of crack, which were seized along with 70 euros in cash, believed by investigators to be the proceeds of drug dealing.
The young man was then arrested. He is charged with drug dealing, resisting arrest, and assaulting a public official.
The policeman involved in the attack suffered injuries that were expected to heal in three days.
The 27-year-old is now awaiting trial.
The new incident brings to mind a previous arrest in Castellammare di Stabia. It was September 20, over a year ago, when Carabinieri from the local unit arrested the then 26-year-old.
On that occasion, he was facing charges of money laundering, receiving stolen goods, resisting arrest, and assaulting a public official. Even then, a detail that emerged during the search was striking.
In the backpack of the young man, who had also been a professional boxer, the soldiers had found three masks depicting Gigi D'Alessio.
An unusual detail, made even more special by the fact that the singer's dedications appeared on the back of the masks, with a thank you to the fan for attending one of his concerts.
Today, more than a year later, the 27-year-old is once again at the center of a Carabinieri operation. This time, however, instead of the unusual masks found in his backpack, there are six packets of crack cocaine and 70 euros seized during an anti-drug operation.
