Land of Fires: A farm and a burned waste area between Giugliano and Lusciano have been seized.

The Pozzuoli Forestry Carabinieri, with the support of personnel from the Naples and Caserta local health authorities, conducted an inspection as part of their territorial control activities related to the Land of Fires. The operation involved a farm operating on approximately 10 hectares in the municipalities of Giugliano in Campania and Lusciano.

During the inspection, a pile of combusted waste, estimated at approximately 6 cubic meters, was seized within the cultivated areas. Among the residues, packaging containing pesticides was also found.

The company owner, a 60-year-old man, was reported to the Judicial Authorities for illegal waste combustion and illegal waste management, as he was unable to produce the required documentation certifying the disposal of hazardous waste (pesticides) and plastics resulting from agricultural activities.

The joint inspection also highlighted the lack of cultivation permits: failure to submit the SCIA (Certified Notification of Commencement of Activity) and failure to maintain a register of phytosanitary treatments. Given the serious health and safety violations found, the Local Health Authority (ASL) ordered the immediate suspension of all farm activities, with a ban on harvesting and marketing the produce.

This intervention is part of a package of controls aimed at combating non-compliant practices in waste management and agricultural activities, with further checks by the competent authorities and law enforcement.
