Naples – The violent storms currently affecting Naples have caused the collapse of a centuries-old pine tree inside the Cardarelli Hospital. The tree, several meters tall, fell to the ground near one of the hospital's exits, necessitating immediate intervention to secure the area.
Hospital management announced that its technical office promptly cordoned off and secured the affected area. At the same time, with the support of internal security, normal circulation within the hospital complex was restored.
Following the collapse, operations began to remove the pine tree and restore safety to the affected area. This intervention is part of the efforts needed to address the consequences of the heavy rainfall currently affecting the area.
The hospital's green space extends over approximately 250 square meters and includes over 400 trees, many of which are centuries-old.
The Cardarelli management emphasizes that the tree heritage is subject to regular maintenance, described as "regular and meticulous," which also makes use of the consultancy of a botanist.
The collapse draws attention to the effects of heavy rainfall on urban greenery and the need to ensure the safety of spaces frequented daily by patients, healthcare workers, and visitors.
