Naples, free flu vaccine for over-60s: over 600 vaccination sites open

Federfarma Napoli president Riccardo Maria Iorio symbolically kicked off the seasonal flu vaccination campaign by receiving the dose at his pharmacy in Scampia. His pharmacy is one of approximately 600 in Naples and the surrounding province where residents aged 60 and older can receive the vaccine free of charge.

"As a healthcare worker and as someone over 60, I wanted to set a good example for Neapolitans," Iorio said. "Getting vaccinated is an act of love for ourselves and the people around us: protecting ourselves from the flu also means not spreading it to our loved ones." The Federfarma president then urged people not to underestimate the disease, noting that in recent years, the flu has proven particularly aggressive, with high fever, severe pain, and a cough, and that it can be especially dangerous for the elderly, frail, and chronically ill.

Safety and capillarity

Pharmacy administration, Iorio specified, is performed "in complete safety" by trained and up-to-date pharmacists. Federfarma also relies on local coverage and the relationship of trust between residents and the pharmacy to reach even the undecided and skeptical.

The Campania campaign launched in early October and provides free admission not only to those over 60, but also to children, pregnant women, people with chronic conditions, and healthcare workers.

How to find the pharmacy

To help you locate the nearest facility, Federfarma Napoli has published a geolocalized map of participating pharmacies on its website. The service is also available on the regional Citizen Health portal, in the "Farmacia dei Servizi" section, where you can search for pharmacies providing the vaccination by municipality.

To access the service, you must present your health card; after the vaccination, you will be briefly observed, according to the procedures established for vaccinations in pharmacies.
