Five arrested for drugs hidden in a pillow and socks in a washing machine in Santa Maria Capua Vetere.

Santa Maria Capua Vetere - A pillow placed on a mezzanine and two socks stored in the bathroom washing machine: these were the hiding places chosen to conceal the drugs in the two apartments at the center of a Carabinieri anti-drug operation in Santa Maria Capua Vetere.

The raid, carried out this morning on Via Palmiro Togliatti, led to the arrest of five people, all Egyptian nationals, on suspicion of conspiracy to possess narcotics for the purpose of dealing.

The operation was conducted by officers from the Macerata Campania Station, with the support of the Operations Unit of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Company. The house searches involved two homes located in the same building, where they found various quantities of hashish and cocaine, as well as cash and materials believed to be compatible with cutting and packaging the drugs.

Hashish hidden in pillow: over 400 grams seized

In the first apartment, occupied by two 19-year-olds and an 18-year-old, the Carabinieri discovered 413,58 grams of hashish, divided into blocks and doses. The substance had been hidden inside a pillow on a mezzanine, a hiding place discovered during the search.

Packaging materials and €1.685 in cash were also found in the home. This sum, along with the drugs, was seized for further investigation.

Cocaine and hashish found in socks inside the washing machine

The second search, conducted in another apartment in the same building, involved the rooms occupied by an eighteen-year-old and a seventeen-year-old. In this case, officers located two socks stored in the bathroom washing machine, which had been used to conceal the drugs.

Inside, 15,02 grams of cocaine and 22,84 grams of hashish were recovered, as well as €120 in cash. Drugs and cash were also seized.

The total amount of narcotics recovered from the two homes amounts to 451,44 grams, including hashish and cocaine. This is in addition to €1.805 in cash and the material found in the first apartment.

The measures taken after the searches

At the end of the operation, the five individuals were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to possess narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. The adults were taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, while the minor was taken to the Naples-Colli Aminei First Reception Center.

The competent judicial authorities, both ordinary and juvenile, have been informed of the incident to comply with the legal requirements.

The proceedings are currently in the preliminary investigation phase. The responsibility of those involved must be determined in court, respecting the presumption of innocence and the guarantees recognized by law.
