Police officers took to the streets in several Italian cities to demand the ranking of the competition for deputy inspectors of the State Police be moved forward. The protest was led by the Silp-CGIL (Italian General Confederation of Labor), which is calling on the government to intervene quickly to ensure the classification of those who are still waiting.
The protest took place in Rome, in front of Montecitorio, and in front of the prefectures of several large cities, including Milan, Naples, and Palermo. A peaceful demonstration, the union explained, stemmed from the demand to send "a clear and immediate signal" regarding the future of thousands of professionals who passed the competitive exam.
According to data provided by Silp Cgil, the competition saw over 3.400 eligible candidates emerge. However, after the initial reabsorption, a pool of more than 2.600 qualified professionals remains awaiting placement.
This is the union's focus: using the ranking process to promote personnel who have already passed a selection process and who could contribute to strengthening the State Police's workforce.
The Silp Cgil union describes a mobilization that has garnered widespread support across the country. Coordinated demonstrations and initiatives have also taken place in other regions, starting with Sardinia.
For the union, the issue of the ranking process falls within the broader issue of strengthening public safety and police force staffing. Hence, the union has asked the government led by Giorgia Meloni to intervene in the ranking process and provide a response to the candidates still waiting.
The mobilization, emphasizes Silp Cgil, therefore aims to bring back to the center of attention a group of over 2.600 professionals who, despite having obtained the qualifications, have not yet seen their placement process materialize.
