Casoria, the founders of L'Alternativa
Casoria – "L'Alternativa" is born, but a reckoning has already begun. The "new" center-left is reorganizing amidst distinctions and vetoes. Former regional councilor and current Soresa president Tommaso Casillo has been excluded. The process of "L'Alternativa" has officially begun in Casoria, the new center-left coalition open to civic groups, created with the aim of developing an administrative proposal for the city's future.
The initiative, presented on September 29th at the Via Aldo Moro venue before a large audience of citizens, immediately sparked friction at the local political level.
What's causing discussion among industry insiders is the strict clause included in the program document signed by the founding members: the text peremptorily establishes a ban on forming political alliances with entities, lists, or individuals directly linked to Tommaso Casillo.
A clear cut that, regardless of the declarations of intent, is interpreted by several observers as a punitive and purging move that alienates citizens and "sinks" inclusive politics.
Despite the veto on exclusions, the evening provided an initial opportunity for programmatic discussion among the various forces in the alliance. Speakers included Josi Della Ragione, mayor of Bacoli, and Giorgio Zinno, regional councilor for the Democratic Party, who shared their own local administrative experience.
Also speaking at the meeting were: Francesco Dinacci, provincial secretary of the Democratic Party; Antonella Ciaramella, member of the Campania regional secretariat of the Democratic Party; Francesca Scarpato, national deputy secretary of Azione; and Nicola Campanile, former mayor of Villaricca and president of the PER – People and Community network. Alongside the supra-municipal figures, the secretaries and political representatives of the various civic lists also spoke.
The debate addressed the issues deemed essential for the city's revitalization: neighborhood redevelopment, efficient public services, urban planning, environmental protection, support for the productive fabric, and the ability to leverage European and regional funding.
At the moment, however, it is still unclear what the political plan is, other than the goal of excluding and purging political figures. The discussions concluded with the signing of the "Pact with the Casoriani," a charter of public commitments that marks the formal break with the current municipal administration.
