Centola – A relic "ex corpore" of Saint Charles Acutis will be welcomed on Tuesday, October 13, in the parish of San Nicola di Bari, in Centola. The relic, donated by the Bishop of Assisi to the parish community, will be enshrined in a specially crafted silver reliquary. The gift was also motivated by the young saint's connection to the Cilento region, where he spent summer holidays with his family.
The official handover is scheduled for 7:00 PM, during the Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Bishop of Vallo della Lucania, Monsignor Vincenzo Calvosa. The relic will be available for veneration by the faithful.
The initiatives open today, Monday, October 12, the liturgical memorial of San Carlo Acutis.
At 4:30 pm, in the Piazzetta del Rosario—a place frequented by the young man during his summer stays—a moment of sharing dedicated to his legacy will take place. At 6 pm, in the parish church, Father Luigi Marone will lead a Eucharistic prayer service, followed by Mass.
The arrival of the relic will involve the parish community of Centola and the diocese of Vallo della Lucania. Canonized in 2025, Carlo Acutis is remembered for his devotion to the Eucharist and for using new technologies as a tool for evangelization. During the celebration, the community will entrust the parishes, families, and young people of the area to his intercession.
