Naples. Tensions are rising again in the Camorra world in and around Secondigliano, following the murder of Francesco Climeni and the bomb placed outside a pastry shop. Two high-profile releases have been recorded, potentially shifting the balance of power in the entire area north of Naples. Two top figures from the Abbinante clan, based in the "Monterosa" area, have been released after serving their sentences. They are Antonio Abbinante, brother of the better-known Raffaele, known as "Papele," and Guido, and Giovanni Carriello, known as "the brigand." Antonio Abbinante had already been freed in 2015, but only for a month. The statements of repentant boss Rosario Pariante have led to his return to prison with a new precautionary warrant for Camorra association. Antonio Abbinante, originally from Marano but residing in Scampia, is also the father of Arcangelo (who is still in prison), considered one of the most ruthless killers in the family and the criminal group. He is on trial for the high-profile ambush on the Terracina beach of boss Gaetano Marino, the brother of Gennaro the Meccan, in August 2013. The Abbinantes, along with the Abetes, Aprea, and Amato-Paganos, were part of the group of families that rebelled against the Di Lauros, sparking the feud. Furthermore, from court documents and the accounts of informants, as well as investigators' findings, the Abbinantes appear to be major importers of cocaine from Colombia.
