San Giorgio a Cremano. The project proposals approved by the council led by Mayor Giorgio Zinno were presented, within the framework of the Institutional Development Contract (Cis) Vesuvius-Pompeii-Naples with funds from the PNRR.
Projects that, once the feasibility has been assessed by the Government, would allow the redevelopment of part of the city, regenerating some peripheral areas and historic villas and implementing cultural renewal projects.
The proposals developed together with the agency's technicians, who carried out the work in less than 20 days, are divided into two macro projects.
The first concerns the former Caserma Cavalleri owned by the State Property Agency and currently granted to the Guardia di Finanza. The project, for a total of 11 million 732 thousand euros, includes the redevelopment of part of the Caserma Cavalleri, demolishing the old perimeter wall on Via Botteghelle and opening it to the City with a parking lot on the aforementioned road and a large park with a green area equipped for citizens with an adjoining commercial area;
The reuse of the existing theater structure and the creation from scratch of the Museum of Arms, which will represent a point of tourist attraction for many visitors. And also the redevelopment of the existing sports area with multidisciplinary fields, indoor and outdoor gyms and an innovative co-working structure serving young people;
In the other macro area, on the tourist-cultural side, we are aiming for an intervention with a value exceeding 8 million euros that is structured in a widespread manner across the territory, enhancing our great historical real estate heritage and recognizing our City's role as a cultural hub in the Vesuvian area. The project, in addition to the redevelopment of the interiors of Villa Bruno and the park of Villa Vannucchi, includes the acquisition of a portion of land belonging to the former Dental Hospital to create a section that directly connects the parks of the two eighteenth-century villas. Furthermore, the proposal also includes the acquisition of a structure such as the former Cinema Flaminio with the aim of providing our city, with structural work, with a covered theater that can allow us to program further cultural activities related or not to the Massimo Troisi Award and events with schools.
“These are partly ambitious project proposals – he said Zinno – some of which are already planned, but on which we could have the concrete support of the Government, through these funds made available precisely with the aim of supporting the 19 municipalities in the southern area of Naples, with urban regeneration interventions, as well as cultural and tourist ones that would allow us to relaunch our territories and enhance a sector such as culture, which has always characterized our city. The development of our beloved San Giorgio a Cremano cannot ignore the peculiarities of our territory such as the Vesuvian Villas, the cultural ferment that has always characterized us and social and youth inclusion; It will be precisely this vision of the city that is the basis of the projects that we will launch within the PNRR, confident that we can create important paths for our community.
Thanks to the entire majority, to the city councilors and to the board who shared ideas and proposals for our city, providing valuable contributions to the formulation of the proposals".
The Municipality of San Giorgio a Cremano has already received funding for two projects to redevelop the former Abb and Terra Felix area for the sum of 5 million euros.”
