Naples, monument dedicated to Armando Diaz on the seafront defaced

Yet another affront to the beauty of Naples . Several citizens have sent us photographs of the monument dedicated to Armando Diaz, located in the roundabout of the same name, defaced by vandals. A black spray-painted slogan reading "KekkoGenny" defaces the imposing base supporting the statue of General Diaz on horseback.

We remain incredulous in the face of such incivility and unreasonableness. Naples is experiencing a golden moment thanks to a reborn and increased tourist influx. Therefore we strongly reiterate that the beauties of our city must be protected and safeguarded at all costs, at the same time the vandals must be identified and sanctioned”.

These are the words of Francesco Emilio Borrelli, deputy of Alleanza Verdi-Sinistra, who carried out an inspection on site, and of the councilors of Europa Verde of Municipality I, Gianni Caselli and Lorenzo Pascucci.
