Napoli dreams of qualifying for the first, historic edition of the new Club World Cup , which kicks off in 2025 in the United States . A project recently launched by FIFA head Gianni Infantino , which will offer a prize pool expected to amount to 2,5 billion euros, with another 2 billion to be distributed to the remaining 31 qualified teams.
But what are the qualification criteria? As of today, we know that UEFA will provide 12 teams , eight through its official ranking and the four winners of the Champions Leagues of 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 (the next one).
However, it is necessary to take into account the limitation of two clubs per single championship, which opens up the possibility for Italian clubs that are well placed in the standings. Inter are in pole position, having placed themselves behind Bayern Munich and PSG among the first teams "drawn" from the rankings after last year 's Champions League final .
Next up are Benfica and Juventus , another well-positioned Italian team. However, the Bianconeri will lose important points next year due to their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
The standings, therefore, could change radically and will be decided by the 2023/24 edition of the Champions League . Second place in Serie A at the Club World Cup will therefore be contested by Juventus , Milan and Napoli , with the latter two hoping to put up a good fight to oust Allegri's Bianconeri.
