This is what the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi states in a note 38 years after the assassination of the Neapolitan journalist, recalling in this context the important action carried out by the "Centre for the coordination of monitoring, analysis and permanent exchange of information on the phenomenon of intimidating acts against journalists" established at the Viminale, which works to identify increasingly effective strategies aimed at preventing and countering any form of threat and violence against operators in the world of information.

Piantedosi explains: "Siani was able to recount, with rigor and courage, without ever backing down, the complex plots with which the criminal underworld attempted to influence the social and economic fabric of the area, paying with his life for his battle for freedom of information, a freedom he always strenuously defended as a founding principle of our democratic system."
