Ischia at the Rizzoli hospital the CUP has been abolished

Ischia. At the hospital in Lacco Ameno, the aftermath of the collapse of the false ceiling of the waiting room and offices of the CUP, currently closed, is dramatic. The attic has been shored up and the waiting room eliminated, and now the entrance to the “Rizzoli” looks like the tunnel of a morgue…

The island's health system takes another step backwards and the Ischitans continue to lose those few services gained that over time seemed to have consolidated.

After the dramatic and sudden collapse of the false ceiling of the waiting room that in the last few days caused only one death or injury, with the reopening of the central entrance of the hospital, the islanders had another, unpleasant and absurd surprise.

Since the areas affected by the collapse have only been shored up and a large part of the entrance and the CUP offices have been “plastered” like a whitewashed tomb so much so as to give the impression that the entrance to the “Rizzoli” looks like the tunnel of a morgue, due to lack of space the Single Booking Centre which served the entire population of the western part of the island has been suppressed: absurd!!!

Suppressed without the works being completed in the meantime, an alternative being found: what a shame!!! A shame whose political and administrative responsibilities are the heads of the ASL Napoli 2 Nord, those of the regional council and the island mayors who, not having a minimum of political weight, continue not to count for a damn in the palaces of Neapolitan and Roman politics despite being certified errand boys of regional councilors and parliamentarians to whom at each election they bring hundreds if not thousands of votes.

The Italian Marxist-Leninist Communist Party founded by the late Domenico Savio, in stigmatizing the shameful suppression of the CUP, asks the mayors of the Island, at least in this case, a surge of pride and political dignity so that they take action to immediately find, in concert with the ASL, a solution to give back the CUP counters to the western populations of the island of Ischia.

At the same time, we call on the island's citizens, political forces, and sincerely democratic and progressive associations to take to the streets to demand the full right to health of residents and tourists, increasingly compromised by the closure or downsizing of health services and the chronic, decades-long problems plaguing the Rizzoli Hospital.
