Next-generation radiology at Rizzoli in Ischia: Leonessa Foundation donates €82.000 digital system

Ischia — A new, state-of-the-art digital x-ray system donated by the "Ing. Salvatore Leonessa" Foundation to the Naples 2 North Local Health Authority (ASL) will be delivered tomorrow at 12 noon to the Radiology Department of Rizzoli Hospital in Lacco Ameno. The equipment, valued at €82.751 plus VAT, will be used primarily for emergency room services and will replace an older system.

The award ceremony will be attended by Monica Vanni, general director of the ASL Napoli 2 Nord, Elena Leonessa, president of the Leonessa Foundation, Erminia Falconio, medical director of the hospital, and Roberto Lobianco, director of the Radiology Unit.

The new system stands out for its U-shaped arm, making it suitable for lateral "cross" examinations on mobile tables. This feature, combined with the provision of three technical beds for the Emergency Room and two electric Lemi triage chairs—for an additional value of over €20.000 plus VAT—will bring significant benefits in terms of safety, optimized diagnosis times, and a drastic reduction in patient movement and exposure.

A story of donations that is renewed

This isn't the first time the Ischian Foundation has shown its support for the Rizzoli Hospital. Established in 1998 by Lina Mameli in memory of her husband, Salvatore Leonessa, a longtime hotel entrepreneur on the island, the Foundation has donated a digital mammogram for the cancer screening program for women on the island, an electrosurgical unit for endoscopy, medical devices for the medical clinic, and a system for digitally guided breast biopsies. A year ago, the Foundation also donated new chairs for the Day Hospital and the Emergency Room triage.
