In Castellammare, over a kilo of narcotics and ammunition were found among bushes, manholes, and tuff walls.

The raids continue as part of Operation Continuum Bellum 4, the campaign to combat drug trafficking and weapons possession that has been targeting the slopes of the Lattari Mountains, an area also known as the "Jamaica of the South," for years.

Soldiers from the Castellammare di Stabia Company, along with the Cacciatori di Sardegna Helicopter Squadron, were deployed. The checks, concentrated in rural and more difficult-to-reach areas, resulted in two separate seizures, one in the Stabia hinterland and the other in the municipality of Pimonte.

The purse hidden in the bushes

In the most inaccessible areas of the Castellammare di Stabia hinterland, the Carabinieri located a purse hidden in the vegetation. Inside: 117 grams of marijuana, two packages of hashish totaling 237 grams, 60 grams of cocaine and crack, a precision scale, and 31 bullets of various calibers.

The discovery reinforces the picture that has already emerged in other phases of the operation: the drugs are not only kept in the drug dealing areas, but are also scattered in makeshift warehouses, among brushwood, low walls, and ravines, to avoid being checked.

In Pimonte, hiding places are found among manholes and tuff walls.

The police expanded their search to Pimonte. Here, the drugs and the weapon had been hidden in even more unusual locations: manholes, disused rainwater pipes, and ancient tuff walls, some unsafe. The seizure totaled 92 grams of hashish, 571 grams of cocaine and crack, and a revolver with the serial number erased.

The quantity of cocaine and crack, significantly higher than that found in the Castellammare hinterland, indicates a warehouse intended for sale and not for occasional use.

The weapon under ballistic examination

The seized revolver will undergo ballistic tests to determine whether it was used in crimes or other crimes. The cancellation of the serial number is a common feature in illegal weapon discoveries in the area: it serves to make it more difficult to trace and connect the weapon to previous criminal incidents.

Operation Continuum Bellum 4 remains ongoing. The stated objective of law enforcement is to continue intercepting hidden caches in rural and mountainous areas, where vegetation, abandoned infrastructure, and old tuff structures are being used as open-air "safe deposit boxes."
