Car thefts and tourist robberies in Palinuro, five arrests made

Salerno – A wide-ranging offensive against predatory crimes in Cilento. This is what the Carabinieri have launched. By order of the investigating judge of the Vallo della Lucania Court and at the request of the local prosecutor's office, headed by Prosecutor Francesco Rotondo, they have executed two separate precautionary measures.

The measures affected a total of five people, divided into two different lines of investigation linked to car thefts and a violent armed robbery.

The car gang between Camerota, Vallo and Castellabate

The first line of investigation involved officers from the Vallo della Lucania Territorial Unit, supported by colleagues from the Agropoli and Sapri Companies. The investigation led to the identification of three individuals in Angri, believed to be responsible for the theft of four vehicles, stolen while parked on the street between September and October 2025 in the municipalities of Marina di Camerota, Vallo della Lucania, and Castellabate.

Two of the suspects were placed under house arrest with an electronic bracelet, while the third was ordered to remain in the municipality of Angri.

The violent summer robbery in Palinuro

The second warrant, executed by the Sapri Police Company, concerns a serious incident of petty crime that occurred in the early hours of August 3rd in Palinuro. Two young men, aged 21 and 18, residing between Salerno and Naples, are charged with aggravated robbery in conjunction with a minor (for which separate proceedings are being conducted by the Juvenile Court).

According to the investigators' reconstruction, the baby gang approached a twenty-year-old in a car, tearing two gold chains worth between 3.000 and 5.000 euros from his neck.

Victim dragged by getaway car

The aftermath of the attack was dramatic: the victim, in a desperate attempt to retrieve his jewelry, grabbed onto the moving vehicle driven by the robbers, eventually falling to the ground as he fled. The young man suffered injuries and abrasions to his back, abdomen, and chin. Given the serious evidence of guilt, the judge ordered one of the young men under investigation to be placed under house arrest with an electronic bracelet, while the other was required to report to the judicial police daily.
