Camorra sentences the maxi clan of East Naples to 540 years in prison

A severe blow to the Camorra in eastern Naples: 540-year prison sentences have been handed down to the 55 defendants in the maxi-trial against the Camorra cartel known as De Luca – Bossa – Casella – Minichini – Rinaldi – Reale, active in eastern Naples.

The trial, which took place with an abbreviated procedure before the investigating judge Fabio Lombardo of office 30 of the Court of Naples, arose from the major raid of November 2022 which targeted 66 people from the various criminal families opposed to the Mazzarellas and the clans federated with them, such as the De Miccos and the infamous "Bodos" who later allied with the De Martinos "Xx".

The investigation, coordinated by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate, began in April 2016 following the seizure of narcotics and some manuscripts at one of the homes where the criminal group's illicit activity was managed. The investigation was then expanded over time, gathering important evidence on the association in question.

The investigation started in 2016 and the maxi blitz of November 2022

A second segment of activity, launched in September 2020 following some intimidating acts against citizens of the Ponticelli neighborhood , who were asked for sums of money in exchange for maintaining or obtaining public housing, made it possible to document the current presence of the clan and its related illicit activities.

It is worth noting that among the convictions for Cardillo Luigia (wife of Minichini Alfredo), defended by Giuseppe Milazzo and Immacolata Romano and Minichini Martina (sister of Michele and Alfredo), defended by Antonio del vecchio, the Judge downgraded the charge of mafia participation to the less serious crime of receiving stolen goods.

The lowest sentence among those convicted under Article 416bis was handed down to Vincenzo Barbato (defended by Giuseppe Milazzo), a mere 8 years in prison. Alfredo Minichini (defended by Giuseppe Milazzo and Giovanni Abet) retained the aggravating circumstance, but recidivism was ruled out: 18 years instead of 20 years.
