Tourist Bus Blockade on Amalfi Coast: AN.bti Protest 

“The sudden blocking of tourist bus transit on the Amalfi Coast is a clear example of the inconvenience and lack of consideration that our sector too often suffers.”

Riccardo Verona, president of the National Association of Italian Tourist Buses (AN.bti – Confcommercio), stated this in an official statement.

The decision of the Province of Salerno to prohibit access to the provincial road to Agerola to all tourist buses, without any warning and while the services were already in progress, has created significant problems for operators in the tourism sector of the Coast.

“Hundreds of reservations have been cancelled and tours canceled, with serious economic losses for our companies, tourists and the image of Italy,” Verona stressed.

“Such behavior is unacceptable in the height of the season,” continued the president of AN.bti.

"I fully agree with the words of the mayor of Meta, Giuseppe Tito, who highlighted the impact of this decision on the entire tourism sector, from travel agencies to hotels. Things must be planned and communicated well in advance, to allow all operators to organize themselves."

AN.bti declares its willingness to collaborate with the institutions and other actors involved to find shared solutions and create permanent discussion tables.

“We hope for greater dialogue for the good of the category and tourism in Italy,” concluded Verona.
