A 46-year-old Neapolitan man was caught on a train headed to Naples. The man, who specializes in scamming the elderly, had stolen 300 euros in cash and jewelry from a couple in Padua, deceiving them with the classic story of a “fake accident.”
Thanks to the timely reporting of the victims and a joint operation between the Padua Police and the Lazio Polfer, the criminal was tracked down and arrested in Rome Termini. The loot was recovered and will be returned to the couple.

The 46-year-old Neapolitan, a skilled con man with a long criminal career behind him, had pulled off the robbery using the classic “fake accident” technique.
With a phone call, he had convinced the couple that a relative of theirs had been involved in a car accident and urgently needed a sum of money to avoid prison. Terrified and disoriented, the two elderly they did not hesitate to hand over their savings and their jewels to the false court official.

The police identified and stopped the 46-year-old after a few minutes on the train stopped at Rome Termini station. Yesterday morning the judge of the Rome court validated the arrest and ordered the man to be held in prison.
