Naples, madness in Piazza Trieste e Trento: he throws firecrackers into the crowd: 17-year-old arrested

Naples. Night of checks and arrests in the city center during the New Year's Eve celebrations. The Carabinieri of the Centro company stopped a 17-year-old caught exploding two high-powered firecrackers in the middle of the crowd gathered in Piazza Trieste e Trento.

An irresponsible gesture that could have caused serious consequences, if it had not been promptly stopped by the military. The young man, in fact, was in possession of 14 other pyrotechnic devices of the same type, ready to be used.

A short distance away, near the Galleria Umberto I, a 21-year-old was arrested while preparing to explode 10 “cipolle,” homemade and illegal firecrackers. He was also arrested.

The evening also saw other operations by law enforcement. A 15-year-old and an 18-year-old were reported after being found in possession of, respectively, a knuckleduster and a switchblade. Three other individuals were reported for setting off fireworks in the street.

 Last minute firecracker seizures in the Spanish Quarters

In the heart of the Spanish Quarter, the military seized 257 illegal firecrackers from a stall run by a 34-year-old woman, still in business after midnight, to attract any latecomers.

A heavy toll that highlights the importance of controls to guarantee public safety on a night of celebration.
