Acerra – Investigations continue into the tragic death of Giulia Loffredo, the nine-month-old baby attacked and killed by the family pitbull in her Acerra home . The Nola Prosecutor's Office has ordered the seizure of the cell phone of her father, Vincenzo Loffredo, who is being investigated for manslaughter for failing to guard and supervise the dog.
The aim of the investigators is to shed light on some dark points of the story, in particular on the rescue times and on the possible movements of the man from the house during the night between February 15 and 16.
Loffredo said he fell asleep and did not notice the attack, which occurred while the child was sleeping next to him in the double bed.
Investigators want to verify whether the man used his cell phone during the time he claims to have been asleep. They also want to clarify the exact time when Loffredo noticed the tragedy and took his daughter to the hospital.
Yesterday, the forensic police carried out a new inspection of the Loffredo family's apartment, looking for traces of blood that would have been cleaned by some relatives before the seizure of the house. The investigators examined every corner of the house to compare the evidence with the version provided by the child's father.
Loffredo initially claimed that his daughter had been attacked by a stray dog while they were on the street, a circumstance that had slowed down the seizure of the apartment.
The 24-year-old is now waiting to be summoned by the public prosecutor for questioning, requested by his lawyer, Luigi Montano, in order to clarify any doubts about his involvement in the alteration of the crime scene.
Doubts also remain about the family's two dogs, the pitbull Tyson and the mongrel Laika. Initial tests on the pitbull did not reveal any traces of the girl's blood, but the results of the stool tests on the two animals are awaited to verify the presence of organic material from the victim.
