From Naples to the final of Sanremo Giovani, Andrea Settembre's journey

He began his musical career at a young age, participating in contests and shows from a very young age. Andrea Settembre, recently awarded the IMAIER Enzo Jannacci Prize, is now preparing for an important milestone in his career: he's a finalist at the Sanremo Music Festival, in the Newcomer category, with the song "Vertebre."

The debut in Sanremo

Presented as the boy capable of “singing the emotions of Gen Z” with “a unique style that combines the Neapolitan dialect with Italian songwriting”, Settembre is not new to the music scene. Born in Naples in 2001, he began studying singing and dancing at an early age, making himself noticed in various contests. Among his experiences, we remember the participation in “Io Canto”, hosted by Gerry Scotti, and, more recently, in “The Voice of Italy”, where he was part of Gigi D'Alessio's team.

An ascending path

September he also participated in the 2023 edition of “X Factor”, in Dargen D'Amico's team, performing with the unreleased “Lacrime”. February 14 will coincide with the release of his first album, also titled “Vertebre”, under the Isola degli Artisti label and distributed by Ada Music. The album will contain seven songs, four of which are unreleased, and two concerts have already been announced: March 8 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome and April 11 at the Casa della Musica in Naples.

The creation of the song

The song “Vertebre”, presented at the Festival, was written by Settembre himself in collaboration with Manuel Finotti and Laura Di Lenola and is produced by Gorbaciof and BNJMN. The artistic direction is by Carlo Avarello and the orchestra will be conducted by Fabio Barnaba. The song has already collected over 13 million streams on digital platforms, becoming the most listened to song in the New Proposals competition. Settembre received the Nuovo IMAIE Enzo Jannacci Award “for the communicative research, combined with the scratchy and sincere vocals”.

In an interview with Rai, he stated: “going on the Ariston stage is something I have dreamed of since I was a child. Every note of my song brings with it the fears, hopes and emotions that I have experienced over the years”. Furthermore, he obtained a good response on social media thanks to his cover of “Amandoti”, a song by CCCP also re-interpreted by Gianna Nannini, which reached the Top Ten of the most viral songs at the time of its release.
