Naples, repentant boss Vincenzo Sarno remains in prison

Naples – Vincenzo Sarno, former Camorra boss and ruthless killer in the 1990s in Ponticelli and then a collaborator of justice, remains in prison after the validation of the arrest warrants issued by the judges of Brescia and Naples.

The charges concern attempted murder and murder, respectively notified by the DIA of Brescia and the Flying Squad of Naples. Despite his status as a “pentito,” Sarno was allegedly involved in the reorganization of the Ponticelli clan of the same name, which he once controlled together with his brothers.

According to investigators, the former boss was planning to regain control of the criminal business in the area, without any scruples in order to achieve his goal.

The Brescia DDA accuses Sarno and two accomplices of the attempted murder of Domenico Amato, a former justice collaborator, who took refuge in a protected location in Lombardy in 2022. According to the investigations, to force Amato to leave the house and hit him, the commando set fire to his car. Fortunately, the plan did not succeed: the victim, perhaps sensing the ambush, barricaded himself in the house, saving himself.

Two days ago, in Massa Carrara, Sarno received a further arrest warrant, issued by the Naples DDA and notified by the State Police, for a cold case dating back to 1996: the murder of Gerardo Tubelli , killed on January 5 of that year in his home in Cercola, in the province of Naples.

The ambush is framed by investigators in the context of the Camorra war between the Sarno clan and the Maione/Tubelli group, the latter linked to the Secondigliano Alliance. According to the DDA, Vincenzo Sarno was also part of the fire group responsible for the murder.

The investigations continue to paint a complex and disturbing picture, in which Sarno's criminal past seems to resurface despite his collaboration with justice. The judiciary remains vigilant, while the Sarno clan returns to the center of the news of a Naples still marked by power struggles between Camorra groups.
