Naples, beating and shooting at Baretti di Chiaia: 3 young Camorra recruits arrested

NAPLES – A brutal assault and beating in front of a nightclub in Chiaia, which took place on February 1st , led to the arrest of three young men , believed to be responsible for serious crimes aggravated by mafia methods.

The operation began at dawn today, when the Carabinieri of the Bagnoli Company , on the orders of the preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Naples , executed a precautionary custody order issued at the request of the Neapolitan District Anti-Mafia Directorate.

According to the investigations, the episode took place first inside and then outside a nightclub in the heart of Neapolitan nightlife. The victims were apparently chosen with the intent of sending an intimidating message typical of mafia-style criminal contexts.

Two of those arrested are seriously suspected of aggravated assault using mafia methods for the violent beating of a young student, captured by surveillance cameras in a video that shows the ferocity of the attack.

The third suspect is accused of public intimidation with the use of weapons , also aggravated by the mafia context, for having carried out a "stesa" - an armed display aimed at terrorizing and asserting control over the territory - in front of the club, immediately after the attack.

The Carabinieri investigations, coordinated by the DDA , have allowed them to gather serious evidence of guilt against the three young men, whose actions were deemed symptomatic of a clear intent to intimidate linked to organized criminal dynamics.

The operation represents a further step in the fight against youth crime linked to gangs that attempt to establish themselves in the city's nightlife districts, leveraging violence, fear, and oppression.
