Naples – A new video-denunciation reveals a scenario of serious environmental degradation in Nisida, where a real open-air landfill has sprung up in front of the former Lido Pola, right at the entrance to the isthmus and in the immediate vicinity of a bus stop.
A huge accumulation of bags and waste of all kinds is irremediably disfiguring one of the most suggestive panoramas of the city, transforming it into an unsightly spectacle.
The report was forwarded to the Green-Left Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli by a citizen.
“We have asked for urgent cleanup interventions to defuse this ecological bomb,” Borrelli said. “In an area under video surveillance, how could we get to this point? It is unacceptable that we continue to tolerate illegal dumping as if it were the norm.”
The MP added: “This situation is no longer sustainable. We continue to receive reports of piles of waste in areas that should be the jewel in the crown of our coast.
The area of the isthmus of Nisida, in addition to its environmental and landscape value, is a place of daily passage for residents and tourists. We cannot allow the business card for those arriving to be a pile of garbage. We ask for tight controls and exemplary sanctions for uncivilized people.”
Borrelli concluded with an appeal for a decisive change of direction: “We have been repeating it for some time: there is too much tolerance and impunity. We need a change of pace. Immediate.” The situation in Nisida highlights the persistent waste emergency in some areas of the city and the need for rapid and effective interventions to protect the environment and the image of the territory.
