The Carabinieri closed the investigation yesterday morning by arresting Claudio Riccardo Garavini, a 20-year-old believed to be linked to the Case Gialle gang, an offshoot of the Esposito-Marsicano clan.

The young man, already detained for an armed assault that occurred in early February, is accused of shooting his friend and rival Vincenzo Cimmino, known as "'o mellone," in the leg in an execution carried out on February 9th in Pianura. A peer, Ciro Battista, is under investigation for the same incident, but is not subject to precautionary measures.

The investigation, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate and conducted by the Bagnoli Carabinieri, led to the issuance of a precautionary custody order signed by investigating judge Luca Battinieri.

Garavini, already in prison, was charged with illegal possession and carrying of a firearm, aggravated by mafia methods. The motive for the attack, according to investigators, was personal disagreements and alleged "shortcomings" on the part of Cimmino, who was mocked after a motorcycle accident and deemed unreliable due to the gang's "way of life."

This is a sign of an already consolidated criminal mentality and the cultural drift of a portion of the city's youth who grow up with the mentality of simply committing crime.

The investigative breakthrough came thanks to the victim's testimony, which, despite being shot in the hip, provided crucial details to the Carabinieri. Corroborated by phone traffic analysis and video surveillance footage, the reconstruction pinned Garavini as the actual perpetrator of the wounding, with Battista as an alleged accomplice.

The case sheds light on the worrying escalation of violence among juvenile criminals, increasingly engaged in feuds that combine personal rivalries and mafia dynamics. The ease with which young people, often barely out of their teens, gain access to firearms fuels a vicious cycle of revenge and displays of power.
