An 18-month-old boy trapped in a car in the heat was rescued at the last minute by the Carabinieri.

Moments of terror were experienced yesterday in Vairano Scalo, in the province of Caserta, where an 18-month- old child was trapped inside a car under the scorching sun.

Only the prompt intervention of the Carabinieri prevented a potential tragedy, a situation that, unfortunately, has already had dramatic consequences in the past.

A young mother from Marzano Appio had gone to the Vairano Scalo cemetery to visit the deceased. After getting out to open the rear door, where her son was sitting in his car seat, the child, playing with the keys and remote control, accidentally activated the central locking.

The woman, panicking, tried in vain to open the car doors. Finding herself alone and desperate, she remained calm and called 112 for help.

The decisive intervention of the Carabinieri

The response from the Vairano Scalo station was immediate. When they arrived, they found the mother in tears and the child in a fit of tears inside the BMW parked in the sun.

Aware of the danger, the Carabinieri acted quickly and safely. They broke one of the car's windshields, unlocking the doors and saving the child, who was returned to his mother's care.

A tragedy narrowly avoided, a drama already experienced

The episode, which fortunately ended happily, brings to mind similar cases that have ended tragically in the past. The summer heat, exposure to the sun, and the speed with which a passenger compartment can transform into a death trap make the story a warning.

There are numerous cases of children left in cars, even for short periods, that have ended in tragedy due to heatstroke. The mother's prompt action and the effectiveness of the Carabinieri prevented Vairano Patenora from being added to a sad list of towns marked by similar, painful events.
