Capua – Moments of terror erupted yesterday afternoon in Capua, where a 10-year-old boy was rescued by Carabinieri officers from the Capua Company's Mobile Radio Unit, averting a tragedy.

The child, precariously balanced on the windowsill of a third-floor apartment on Via Principi dei Normanni, was brought back to safety thanks to the courage and prompt intervention of the military personnel, who responded to a report to 112.

The emergency call and lightning-fast intervention

It all started around 16:00 PM, when a passerby, noticing the child perched on the windowsill, intent on miming gestures that suggested he might leap into the void, immediately alerted the emergency number.

The Carabinieri Operations Center in Capua responded quickly, dispatching a patrol to the scene and alerting the Fire Brigade and 118 emergency personnel. Within minutes, the officers arrived beneath the building, finding themselves faced with a terrifying scene: the minor, in a precarious position, several meters above the ground, was at risk of falling at any moment.

The rescue: courage and composure

While one of the police officers, from the street, tried to calm the child with reassuring words, urging him not to move, the crew leader rushed towards the apartment.

After knocking insistently, the officer was let in by the mother, who was at home with two other minor children. Guided by the woman, the carabiniere reached the open window and, with a quick and decisive movement, managed to grab the child, pulling him to safety just in time.

A fatal distraction

From the reconstruction of the facts it emerged that the child, taking advantage of a moment of distraction from his mother, had moved an armchair near the window to climb on it.

Unaware of the danger, the child had leaned out dangerously, unaware of the risk he was taking. His mother, visibly shaken, cooperated with the police, explaining that she hadn't noticed her son's action, which had occurred during a moment of rest.

An epilogue without consequences

Thanks to the citizen's timely reporting and the impeccable intervention of the Carabinieri, the incident ended without dramatic consequences.

The frightened but unharmed child was returned to his mother, while 118 personnel assisted him to assess his condition. The fire department also arrived on the scene, ready to intervene if necessary, but the military's quick action averted the worst.
