Extortion and drugs in Caivano: here's who was in charge of the Angelino clan, 34 precautionary measures.

Caivano – A new, violent blow to organized crime in Caivano. The Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate and the Carabinieri have dismantled the operational structure that guaranteed the continuity of the Angelino clan. This is the result of a massive raid stemming from a massive pre-trial detention order—approximately 1.200 pages signed by the Naples Court's investigating judge, Lucia De Micco—which implicates a total of 45 people: 23 in prison, 11 under house arrest, and 11 others under investigation at large.

The "command bridge" from the harsh prison

Although the historic leader, Antonio Angelino, known as "Tibiuccio," had long been held in a harsh prison regime, the criminal gang had maintained its operations unchanged. According to investigators' reconstruction, the reins of the organization had passed into the hands of bosses Raffaele Zambella and Roberto Alfio Maugeri. Zambella, in particular, continued to dictate the holding company's strategic guidelines and issue detailed orders to affiliates throughout the territory, even after his arrest.

The excessive power over drugs and construction sites

The gang's tentacles extended extensively across drug trafficking and the oppressive control of local businesses through racketeering. Key figures in the extortion apparatus were Giuseppe Tammaro and Mario Marzaiuolo, identified by investigators as the most trusted contacts in charge of demanding payments from merchants.

In support, a veritable "paranza" (fishing gang) dedicated to the execution of the raids operated: among the designated victims were primarily construction workers. Anyone who refused to submit to the demands of the protection racket was punished immediately: a forced blockade of construction sites.
