Naples: A rider was hit by a hit-and-run driver in Cavalleggeri.

Another accident on the streets of Naples. A delivery driver was hit by a car overnight in Fuorigrotta, between Via Cavalleggeri d'Aosta and Via Divisione Siena.

According to several residents who reported the incident, the driver of the car drove away immediately after the impact, without stopping to check on the boy's condition or providing assistance. This circumstance will need to be verified by investigators, including through any footage from surveillance cameras in the area.

According to initial reports, the rider did not suffer serious injuries. However, concerns remain over this incident, which is part of a long and troubling string of road accidents in the city.

The accident reportedly occurred during the night, in a busy section of the Fuorigrotta neighborhood. The incident comes just days after the death of Anna Grimaldi, the seventeen-year-old who was hit while crossing at the crosswalk at Capodichino and died after being admitted to Cardarelli Hospital due to her very serious injuries.

In that case, according to press reports, the driver stopped after the impact; with the young woman's death, the crime was upgraded to vehicular homicide.
These are different stories, but they reveal the same emergency: pedestrians, riders, motorcyclists, and cyclists remain among the most vulnerable road users. Speed, distracted driving, failure to give way, and irresponsible behavior continue to transform intersections and city streets into high-risk areas.

The precedent in Fuorigrotta

Fuorigrotta, moreover, has already been the scene of other serious incidents. Last August, the municipal police identified a taxi driver involved in a collision with a motorcyclist on Via Traiano. After the accident, the driver fled the scene, and the motorcyclist sustained injuries that were expected to heal within 45 days.
