Naples mourns Paolo Tesauro, a luminary of constitutional law.

Naples – Paolo Tesauro, a prominent constitutionalist and a leading figure in Neapolitan academic and cultural circles, has passed away at the age of 90 .

For decades, Tesauro held the chair of Constitutional Law at Federico II University, leaving an unfillable void in the legal community and in the city he loved so much.

“Saddened by the passing of Paolo Tesauro, an extraordinary jurist, a great Neapolitan, but above all a dear friend,” declared the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, in a message published on X, expressing the city's condolences and a hug to his wife Patrizia and family.

Descendant of a family of illustrious jurists, Paolo Tesauro was the son of Giuseppe, rector of the university of Federico II until the 1970s, and cousin of Giuseppe Tesauro, a distinguished jurist and former president of the Constitutional Court.

His career was characterized by a tireless commitment to the study and teaching of constitutional law, helping to educate generations of students and leaving an indelible mark on academic debate. The news of his passing sparked deep emotion in Naples, where Tesauro was admired not only for his expertise but also for his visceral connection with the city.
