The Jealousy Massacre in Forio d'Ischia: Here Are the Victims

Forio d'Ischia – A family massacre rocked the island of Ischia this afternoon. Around 18:30 PM, on Via Provinciale Panza, a 69-year-old local man grabbed a firearm and opened fire on his ex-wife's family, leaving a trail of blood in his wake: three dead and one woman critically injured.

The suicide bomber was named Antinino Luongo, who would have turned 69 in October. Before turning the gun on himself, he had killed Zinoviya Knihnitska, born 63 in Ukraine, the mother of his ex-girlfriend, and Nunzio Russo Spena, a Neapolitan, who would have turned 49 in November, the woman's new partner.

The dynamics

According to the reconstruction of the Carabinieri of the Ischia Company, the 69-year-old reached a house at number 350. There he allegedly opened fire, killing his ex-wife's new partner, a 48-year-old man of Ukrainian origin, and her mother, 63, also of Ukrainian origin.

Not satisfied, he then allegedly chased his 42-year-old ex-wife, shooting her multiple times. The seriously injured woman was treated and rushed to Rizzoli Hospital in Lacco Ameno, where she is currently hospitalized with a critical prognosis.

Suicide

After the attack, the 69-year-old turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger. Rescued in critical condition, he died shortly after arriving at the emergency room at Rizzoli Hospital.

The passionate track

Investigators have no doubts about the motive behind the massacre: it appears to have been driven by passion, linked to the man's separation from his ex-wife and her new relationship. An obsessive jealousy that erupted into an act of blind and desperate violence.

The investigation has been entrusted to the Carabinieri of the Ischia Company, coordinated by the Naples Prosecutor's Office. Investigators are attempting to reconstruct in detail the moments preceding the outburst of violence, gathering testimonies and verifying the legality of the weapon used by the 69-year-old.

The island community is shocked by the incident. The episode has reignited the debate on the resurgence of domestic violence and the risk that unresolved emotional dynamics can turn into irreversible tragedies.
