Three dogs reported chained and abandoned in the rain in the Ufita Valley.

Carabinieri have launched checks in the Ufita Valley, with worrying results. Officers from the Grottaminarda station, during two separate operations in two local municipalities, caught three people mistreating their dogs. All were charged with animal cruelty.

Incompatible conditions

Investigations revealed that the dogs, all mixed-breeds, were kept in conditions completely incompatible with their nature, causing them suffering and discomfort. The animals were forced to live outdoors, exposed to the elements and without any adequate shelter or refuge. Tethered to short chains attached to a pole, the dogs were unable to move freely. In two cases, the dogs were also found to be missing microchips, making their owners untraceable in the event of an escape.

Veterinary intervention

The Avellino Local Health Authority veterinary service responded promptly to the scene to assess the animals' health. After providing the necessary care, the veterinarians also registered the unidentified dogs in the canine registry, finally bringing them into compliance with current legislation.
