Emergency workers protest in Naples: "The Multiservice contract doesn't protect those who save lives."

Naples – A protest began this morning by workers at Heart Life Croce Amica, the company that manages the 118 emergency service on behalf of ASL Napoli 1 Centro. Drivers, first responders, and nurses gathered on Via delle Industrie to denounce the serious discomfort associated with their "Multiservice" contract, which they consider inadequate for the delicate and risky tasks they perform daily on the front lines.

Employees complain of a clear gap between the actual responsibilities of their work—which include lifesaving interventions in often critical situations—and the regulatory and salary treatment provided for by the current contract. This situation, according to the workers, fails to recognize the value and risks of the first responder profession.

Francesco Emilio Borrelli, MP for the Green and Left Alliance, took up their concerns and called for the immediate opening of a discussion forum between all parties involved. "We are facing a situation that deserves the utmost attention and, above all, an approach based on mutual respect," Borrelli stated.

"We're talking about professionals—drivers, first responders, and nurses—who represent the first bastion of public health in the Neapolitan area. It's understandable that there's a need for greater consistency between the tasks actually performed, fraught with responsibility and risk, and the related contractual framework." The parliamentarian made an explicit appeal to the company, the trade unions, and the ASL Napoli 1 Centro to sit down at a table as soon as possible: "This is not the time for confrontation, but for responsibility.

We must reconcile the workers' concerns with the sustainability of the service. The goal must be shared: to guarantee the professional dignity of those who save lives every day and, at the same time, to ensure that citizens receive a consistently efficient and stress-free 118 service." Borrelli finally expressed confidence in the intervention of the Prefecture and regional health authorities to foster a shared solution that will bring stability to workers' families and continuity to the emergency service. The demonstration continues on Via delle Industrie.

The workers are now awaiting concrete signals for the start of official negotiations that could bridge the reported contractual and regulatory gap.
