Fear erupted at dawn in Eboli, in the Salerno province, where a firecracker exploded shortly before 5:00 a.m. in a building on Via Don Giuseppe Diana, in the Pescara neighborhood, startling residents. The blast, clearly heard in the area, prompted several residents to rush out into the streets in the minutes following the explosion.
Carabinieri officers from the Eboli Company's mobile radio unit responded to the scene, conducted surveys and began investigations to precisely reconstruct the events and responsibilities behind the incident. Firefighters also arrived alongside the Carabinieri officers, conducting safety checks on the building to rule out any potential safety hazards.
According to initial reports, the explosion caused no injuries or significant structural damage to the building, although visible signs of the explosion remained in front of the entrance door and in the affected area. Some reports suggest the device was placed in front of an apartment entrance or in the building's hallway, a detail that investigators will clarify in the coming hours.
Investigators are now focusing on the possible presence of video surveillance cameras that could help identify who planted the firecracker. Among the hypotheses under consideration is the possibility of an act of intimidation, while the Carabinieri are gathering evidence and witness statements to outline the context in which the incident unfolded.
