Naples cracks down on nightlife between Vomero and Arenella: arrests and charges

Naples - Zero tolerance and widespread checks in Naples' nightlife districts. The Carabinieri of the Naples Vomero Company targeted the streets between Vomero and Arenella, the scene of a large-scale nighttime operation aimed at combating widespread lawlessness associated with weekend nightlife.

Arrests and reckless escapes

The roadblocks closed in on a man born in 1977, arrested pursuant to a concurrent sentence order issued by the Criminal Enforcement Office of the Naples Prosecutor's Office.

The 47-year-old, who still has over a year of remaining prison time remaining, was immediately transferred to prison. Tense moments erupted shortly afterward, when two young men, aged 16 and 17, forced a stop ordered by patrols. The two minors fled recklessly on their scooters, but were tracked down and charged at large.

The scourge of illegal parking

The police's scrutiny also focused on parking rackets. During the raid, two people were again caught practicing illegal parking. Both were reported, aggravated by the fact that they were already violating the DACUR (Prohibition of Access to Urban Areas) to which they were subject.

In the fight against drug use, eight young men got into trouble: found in possession of small quantities of hashish and marijuana, they were reported to the Prefecture as users.

Budget and road safety

The deployment of forces ensured a massive presence in the area: the final count was 137 people identified and 55 vehicles inspected. On the road safety front, the patrols' scrutiny resulted in 18 heavy fines for traffic violations and the administrative seizure of three scooters found to be irregular.
