Campania Teatro Festival 2026: Luna Cenere's cosmic dance enchants Naples with Àgape – The Cosmic Ballroom

Naples – The nineteenth edition of the Campania Teatro Festival , under the artistic direction of Ruggero Cappuccio and the patronage of the Campania Region, marks a turning point this year with the inclusion of dance in its official program. Tuesday, June 16, saw the debut of "Àgape – The Cosmic Ballroom," an original creation by choreographer Luna Cenere, which enchanted audiences in the evocative Cortile delle Carrozze of the Royal Palace.

The 50-minute show represents a profound reflection on the order and energy of the universe. Performed by Ilaria Quaglia and Davide Tagliavini, the choreography blends with live electroacoustic music by composer Renato Grieco, creating a harmonious dialogue between movement and sound. The stage installation by Sara Palmieri, along with the lighting design by Nicola Mancini, transforms the space into a constantly evolving environment, made of light refractions and vibrations, amplifying the audience's perceptual experience.

"Àgape" explores the concept of transcendental love, understood as divine energy, bringing the body back to a dimension of vulnerability and universality. The performance is a joint production of Zebra Cultural Zoo, Solares Fondazione delle Arti di Parma, Teatro delle Briciole, and Teatro di Napoli – Teatro Nazionale, and has received the support of major national and international production and artistic residency centers.

At the same time, at the Sala Assoli, the festival offered a repeat performance of “Cuore di porco,” a new production by Carrozzeria Orfeo, a theatrical work that continues to receive acclaim for its original dramaturgy and staging.

The evening concluded in the Romantic Garden of the Royal Palace with the After Festival, curated by Drop Eventi, which featured a listening bar and a concert by the True Blues Band, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere, celebrating the roots of American blues music.

With this program, the Campania Teatro Festival confirms its role as an innovative cultural platform, capable of uniting theater, dance, and music in a multidisciplinary dialogue that celebrates art in all its forms.
