A woman hit and killed on her way back from a Nino D'Angelo concert: the hunt for the hit-and-run driver is on.

The manhunt is on for the hit-and-run driver who, on the night between Saturday and Sunday, caused the tragic accident that cost the life of Lucia Cavaliere, 40, when she hit the motorcycle she was riding with her partner Sossio Margarita, 43.

The couple was returning from Pompeii, where they had attended a Nino D'Angelo concert in the archaeological excavations, when their trip turned into a nightmare.
The accident occurred on the Asse Mediano, in the stretch between Cardito and Frattamaggiore, a few hundred meters from the city junction.

The violent collision and the escape

According to the reconstruction of the Naples Highway Police, the motorcycle was violently hit by a car, presumably a red one.
The impact was devastating. Lucia Cavaliere, a secretary at a private school in Acerra, was thrown from the motorcycle and died almost instantly.

The two-wheeler was driven by his partner, Sossio Margarita, who was injured. Investigators believe that, after the collision, the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle, hitting the guardrails several times and likely sustaining injuries. However, instead of stopping to provide assistance, he continued on his way and disappeared.

The injured man was discharged after treatment

Sossio Margarita was rescued and transported to Acerra Hospital. Doctors diagnosed him with a lacerated wound to his hand. After receiving treatment, he was discharged and able to return home.

The Highway Police investigations

The investigation has been entrusted to the judicial police team of the Naples Highway Police Section, which is working to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident.
Analysis of the images recorded by the numerous video surveillance cameras installed along the Asse Mediano will be crucial. Investigators are confident that the footage will help them locate the vehicle involved and identify the driver who fled the scene after the tragic collision.

The hypothesis is that the car has evident damage to the front and that the driver may have gone to a garage or a medical facility for the injuries sustained in the crash.
