Naples, Medical and Nursing Associations: "Enough attacks on healthcare workers."

Naples – "It's unthinkable to calmly carry out one's care and treatment duties while feeling like one is in the trenches." This is the joint statement from the Order of Surgeons and Dentists of Naples and the Order of Nursing Professions of Naples following the violent attack at the triage center at the Ospedale del Mare.

The two professional associations describe a constantly worsening phenomenon, which endangers the physical and moral safety of doctors and nurses, as well as the safety of patients. The incident, they explain, resembles "real war scenarios," with death threats, slaps, punches, and even attempted firearms against healthcare workers.

"On the issue of white coat safety, nurses and doctors speak with one voice," say presidents Bruno Zuccarelli and Teresa Rea, expressing full solidarity with the professionals involved.

In the document, the association representatives call on the institutions to strengthen law enforcement checks in emergency rooms and to urgently intervene to strengthen staffing, especially in anticipation of the upcoming summer and holiday season, when pressure on departments risks increasing further.
