Teano, a man threatened to jump from the "Ponte degli Svizzeri" (Swiss Bridge): saved by the Carabinieri

Teano – A tragedy averted on the edge of a knife, tense until the very last moment. This is what unfolded on provincial road 392 in the municipality of Teano, where a man threatened to take his own life by attempting to jump from the "Ponte degli Svizzeri" (Swiss Bridge).

The alarm was raised thanks to the quick thinking of a citizen who, noticing the extremely dangerous situation, immediately alerted the police. The Carabinieri from the local station quickly arrived on the scene. When they arrived, the scene appeared dramatic: the man was on the edge of the bridge, clearly intending to jump out of the way.

At that point, a delicate mediation process began. The Carabinieri, understanding the gravity of the situation, began a long and patient dialogue with the would-be suicide victim. With great empathy and professionalism, the Carabinieri attempted to reassure him and chip away at the wall of despair that enveloped him.

A slow conversation, lasting endless minutes, finally yielded the desired results. The man finally persuaded himself to desist and allowed the officers to approach him, who held him in a liberating embrace, ending the nightmare. Once secured, the man was handed over to the 118 emergency medical personnel, who had already been alerted and were present on the scene. He was subsequently taken to the Sessa Aurunca hospital for all the necessary tests and treatment.
