The Campania Region bans outdoor work during the hottest hours to protect workers.

The Campania Region has adopted stringent measures to protect the health of workers exposed to high summer temperatures. From June 21st until August 31st, outdoor work in the agricultural, construction, and related sectors is prohibited during the hottest hours of the day, from 12:30 PM to 16:00 PM, in areas where INAIL's heat risk maps indicate high risk.

The ordinance, signed by President Roberto Fico, imposes this suspension to reduce the risks associated with heat stress and heatstroke, which are on the rise due to climate change. The only exceptions to the ban are urgent interventions essential to ensure the continuity of essential services, which must still comply with all safety regulations.

Furthermore, public service providers are required to adequately organize their operations to maintain minimum service levels even during prohibited hours. President Fico emphasized that protecting workers' health is an absolute priority and that the ordinance represents a concrete step toward addressing the new challenges posed by rising summer temperatures.
