Shopkeeper kidnapped and robbed by Casalesi: 9 arrests

A kidnapping organized down to the smallest detail, followed by a violent robbery and severe intimidation. This is the scenario reconstructed by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate, which led to the execution of nine restrictive measures against nine suspects, held responsible, to varying degrees, for kidnapping for the purpose of extortion, robbery, personal injury, and crimes aggravated by the use of weapons and mafia methods.

The operation was conducted by the State Police in the provinces of Naples and Caserta. The arrest warrants, issued by the Naples Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), were subsequently validated by the preliminary investigation judges of the courts of Santa Maria Capua Vetere and Naples North, who ordered all suspects to be held in pre-trial detention.

The kidnapping of the trader

The incidents date back to last May and involved a well-known luxury car and watch dealer operating in the Caserta area. According to investigations, the entrepreneur was followed and then kidnapped by a criminal group who took him to a remote area.

Here, some members of the gang allegedly attacked him and threatened him with extreme violence to force him to hand over large sums of money. The criminals allegedly stole hundreds of thousands of euros, as well as a luxury watch and a purse containing the keys to several luxury cars kept in the victim's dealership.

The investigations of the Flying Squad

The investigation was launched by the Caserta Flying Squad immediately after the businessman filed a complaint. Investigators reconstructed the various phases of the criminal activity, identifying alleged perpetrators and links to organized crime circles.

According to investigations, the victim was initially approached by individuals believed to be close to high-ranking members of the Casalesi clan. Later, following the arrest of some of these individuals, other individuals linked to Camorra groups operating in the municipalities of Recale and Curti appeared on the scene.

The mafia method

The police emphasized that the seizure was carried out in a particularly brutal manner and with intimidating techniques typical of Camorra-style criminal organizations.

The violence of the act and the context in which it occurred have led investigators to charge the suspects with the aggravating circumstance of mafia methods, a factor that strengthens the prosecution's case against the nine arrested.
