A night of fire between Castellammare and Lettere: three cars destroyed, the shadow of arson looming.

A night of flames and sirens shattered the peace between Castellammare di Stabia and the Lattari Mountains. In the space of just half an hour, three cars were engulfed in flames in two apparently unrelated incidents.

Although investigators are leaning toward a singular coincidence rather than a coordinated action, the alert remains high and malicious intent has not been ruled out in either case.

The first fire in Lettere

The first alarm was raised around 2:30 a.m. in the municipality of Lettere. Carabinieri officers from the local station, supported by firefighters, responded urgently to Via Provinciale. Two parked cars were targeted by the flames: an Audi A3, which was completely destroyed, and a Hyundai Kona, which sustained partial damage before the blaze was extinguished.

Just thirty minutes later, at 3:00 a.m., a second incident required the prompt intervention of law enforcement, this time in Castellammare di Stabia. Military personnel from the Stabia Company and firefighters rushed to Via Annunziatella to deal with another vehicle engulfed in flames. Once again, the rapid arrival of emergency services allowed the fire to be extinguished, securing the area.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident. The circumstances of the fires are currently being investigated by law enforcement, who are maintaining the utmost confidentiality. The two blazes do not appear to be connected, but the suspicious timing and method of ignition mean the Carabinieri cannot rule out arson. Investigations are continuing at a rapid pace to fully shed light on this trail of fire that has marked the night in the Castellammare del Golfo hinterland.
